phone over fiber, copper cable, Internet - what's the real difference?
1.About fiber is - just like on conventional copper cable as eg a "normal" telephone connection. The phone will be reconnected only to Glasfaserabschlussbox in the building (known as ONT = Optical Network Terminator), so you can keep your existing phone and continue to receive their existing capabilities (Call forwarding, etc.).
second IP telephony (VoIP also called Voice over IP) requires Internet access. VoIP is based on the other hand, from IP protocols - thus has nothing to do with ISDN. This will require an IP phone (fixed or mobile) or a corresponding application on the computer. This type of telephony over the Internet, you can use as a customer in parallel if you wish.
advantage: many VoIP providers offer very competitive rates (price per minute is less than 1 cent) to. That is especially interesting for international calls and connections to mobile phones, as they may cause connections over ISDN rates despite flat rate service in addition high costs.
